Soycrates

is a scruffy looking nerf herder. But otherwise, a McMaster University philosophy student (of contemporary ethics and formal logic), vegan, literary fanatic, Dungeon Master, mediocre writer (both of fiction and non-fiction, located in my FAQ), film junkie (e.g. Woody Allen, Godard), SF/science/ discovery lover. Feel free to ask for: help with going vegan, reading recommendations, philosophy info, playing D&D, personal things, or anything else on your mind.

augustuscarmichael asked: So soycrates you're into like, environmentalism n' shit right? What's your opinion on ecologically-oriented approaches to ethics/philosophy like Deep Ecology n suchnot?

Arne Naess’ apron diagram approach to ecosophy is the shit, but all-in-all I don’t think concepts from Deep Ecology or other older ecological philosophy movements would resonate well with most people today. Especially the older proponents of eco-feminism, that’s just a horrid disgusting mess of “let’s pretend women own the forest let’s take our chainsaws of women’s rights to the trees whoo strong tree-killing womens”
